“It’s the wave of the future, and we’re taking risks on behalf of the next generation of leaders.”

– Richard Berry
Albuquerque Mayor

Innovate ABQ is a private-public partnership created to develop a 7-acre innovation center in downtown Albuquerque to foster economic development and job creation in New Mexico.  With its first buildings opening in fall 2017, Innovate ABQ aims to develop more than 600,000 square feet of dense, walkable space devoted to bringing together New Mexico’s innovators to foster the creation of long-term, job-creating ventures and increase access to opportunities for the entire community.

Innovate ABQ is the 7-acre hub site of the Innovation Central district in Albuquerque.  Innovation Central is the larger effort to build a successful innovation district in New Mexico, bringing together innovators in the state to spark unexpected change and bring opportunity to the entire community.

An innovation district is an urban planning and economic development tool, where intentional effort is placed behind the creation of an area that encourages collaboration and conversation among the community members. These face-to-face happenstance encounters or “collisions” between people and groups create the human connectivity necessary to encourage creative thinking and exploration of ideas that can form the basis of a new community-changing and job-creating venture.
